Resting in God’s Presence

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

Stillness is difficult in a world that glorifies busyness. Yet, in stillness, we become more aware of God’s presence. A Benedictine monk from St. Meinrad Abbey once said, “Stillness is where our soul grows up.” When we quiet our bodies, minds, and emotions, we begin to recognize that God has been with us all along.

“Be still and know that I am God.” This is both an invitation and a promise. God is not waiting for us to earn His presence; He is already here. Our stillness simply allows us to see it.

Take a few moments to pause. Breathe deeply. Let go of distractions. Where in your life do you need stillness today?

Finish your time with this simple prayer:
“Oh Lord and master of my life, drive away from me the spirit of fear and hurriedness. Give me the spirit of waiting, stillness, and peace. Amen.”
